    Lacrosse An oil painting by LaCrosse sophomore Matea Enzweiler received honorable mention in the Educational Service District 101 art competition in Spokane. Her painting, entitled Embers, depicts a Native American woman and child in front of a fire. She will be among artists honored Monday at the ESD office. The ESD art entries are on display at the district office at 4202 S. Regal in Spokane. Matea resides with her grandparents, David and Margaret Enzweiler, in LaCrosse.   • Dates set for LaCrosse Farmer's Festival

    Lacrosse Save the dates of June 22-24 for the LaCrosse Farmer's Festival in downtown LaCrosse. The theme for this year's parade is "Making a Difference." Some of the activities taking place during the day will include the LaCrosse Community Pride silent auction, a horseshoe tournament, photo contest, quilt show, money prize scramble, the kids' races and free swimming at the LaCrosse pool.     Lacrosse LaCrosse senior class will have a senior class dinner Jan. 28 from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Gathering Place. Dinner will be French dip, salads, dessert and a drink for $6. LaCrosse FFA Marketing Team, which placed first at the district competition, will compete at the state competition in May.     Lacrosse LaCrosse Parks & Recreation district needs board members. Tricia Aune said five residents of the park district are needed to fill vacancies on the board. Some board members have resigned and others have moved out of the district. Aune said she has received commitments from two residents to date to fill the seats. The park district includes roughly the area in the school district.     Lacrosse Next pool tournament at the Pastime Tavern will be Jan. 20. All proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network. Sign up to play at the Tavern or contact Allan Thompson.     Lacrosse Mike Stine, Drew Parks and Norma Gibson competed on the Whitman County Cougars Special Olympic bowling team at Lilac Lanes in Spokane on Sunday, Nov. 5. Norma received a silver medal; Mike received a gold medal and Drew received a fourth place ribbon. Each were in separate divisions. Tom Cauley volunteered to drive Mike and Drew to the tournament.     Lacrosse LaCrosse FFA soils judging team won the state title last week. This qualifies a team of four to compete at the nationals at Oklahoma in May. Team members were Allyn Harder, T.J. Harder, Jadyn Guske, Ty Harder, Trey Fleming, Lauren Stubbs and Autumn Meyer as the alternate. Allyn Harder was high scoring individual. TJ Harder placed was third high and Jadyn Guske placed ninth.     Lacrosse LaCrosse FFA meats team placed third at the National FFA convention this week in Indianapolis, Ind. Team members are Nicole Harder, Britte Harder, Abby McGregor.     Lacrosse Carol Cauley and Lois Startin are accepting items for the LaCrosse Community Pride silent auction which will be June 24 at the Gathering Place during Farmer’s Festival.     Lacrosse LaCrosse Café will be have a trial run Sunday opening Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will serve pork loin with mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, bread, tossed salad and dessert. The grill will also be on. The café is also partnering with the Council on Aging to provide lunch and fun for residents older than 60.     Lacrosse Members of the LaCrosse FFA meats team had the opportunity to compete in the National Western Round-Up competition in Denver, Colo. The team placed fourth in the national event. Abigail McGregor, Britte Harder and Nicole Harder made the trip after being approved by the state advisor to be the team to represent Washington state at the national contest.
