    Lacrosse The Student of Character assembly for February was last Wednesday, March 7. Giraffe Awards were given to the LaCrosse Community Pride Development committee. Those attending were Alex McGregor, Carol Audet, Jeannine Larkin, Jeff Andrus, Jen Broeckel, Scooter Lyle, Gary Wargo, Tedd Nealey and Lois Startin. Ed Casey was not able to attend. McGregor spoke about the community pride group and the progress the committee is making.   • WSU fraternity members aide clean out of store basement

    Lacrosse Members of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at WSU cleaned out the basement of the LaCrosse market building Feb. 18 They loaded scrap iron on a trailer and four truckloads of scrap wood. Randy Myklebust, a grandson of T. A. Myklebust who operated the store at LaCrosse for many years, organized the work party. Awards that were announced included Alec Fleming and Brandon Bennett, both academic improvement in Math from Mr. Kemper.     Lacrosse LaCrosse students in all grades had their Student of Character assembly January 11. The trait for December was “Integrity.” Sandy Martin received the Attitude and Effort Award. She applied for a grant to help the school acquire an AED unit which is now located in the gym.     Lacrosse Santa Claus will roll into town on Saturday Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. Free photos with Santa will be offered and drawings for gifts for the children.     Lacrosse LaCrosse 4H members Dustin Broeckel and Gunnar Aune along with their parents, Jen Broeckel and Leonard Aune, donated their time and efforts Saturday at Pheasant Valley Preserve to help get the ranch ready for the winter months. Pheasant Valley is owned and operated by Jerry Townsend who was severely injured in a four-wheeler accident. He remains in Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.     Lacrosse Plans are underway for the Hay Church Hunters breakfast and lunch for opening day of pheasant season Oct. 22. Breakfast will be served from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. with lunch from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. Homemade biscuits and gravy, applesauce, coffee and juice will be served for breakfast with homemade beef stew, cornbread and dessert the lunch menu.     Lacrosse The LaCrosse Dollars for Scholars committee met last week to recap their auction results. The auction raised $20,000 for the scholarship fund.     Lacrosse LaCrosse swim pool will open June 15. Hours will be Monday to Saturday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Admission will be $1.50 per day and $1 per night. Season passes are $40 for a family and $20 for an individual. Water aerobics sessions will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $1 per session.
