    LaCrosse The 10th annual LaCrosse Schools academic banquet was Monday, March 28. It was catered by Nancy Meise. Guest speaker was Lois Startin, LaCrosse graduate from the class of 1977. Lois spoke about being a student at LaCrosse and its influence on her life from her fellow classmates and community residents. Students qualifying to attend the banquet were seniors Hillary Bennett, Teresa Casey and Taylor Weekes. Junior Anne Fleming and sophomores Lane Hannas, Matt Stubbs and Justin Wargo completed the list of High School students to qualify....

    LaCrosse Saturday evening the Pastime Tavern hosted a pool tournament with Ted Torgeson and Allan Thompson placing first; Eric Startin and Kyle Harder, second; Scott Filan and Buster Roberts, third. Jasper Trucking will sponsor an Easter coloring contest. The colorings will be on display in the window of Jasper Trucking on Main Street. Residents are encouraged to stop by and cast their vote for their favorite artwork.     LaCrosse Tthe LaCrosse Cub Scouts pinewood derby was last Sunday, March 6. In first place was Ty Harder, with Jett Nelson second and Dustin Broeckel third. This was the first race on the pack’s new track. A potluck dinner was shared by the participants and their families.     LaCrosse LaCrosse Community Pride is seeking donations to fund the store project and are selling engraved tiles to be on permanent display in the store. Samples of the tiles can be viewed at Bank of Whitman in LaCrosse or Colfax, Jasper Trucking, the McGregor Co. office and Startin’s Repair. Order forms are also available at these locations.     LaCrosse LaCrosse Community Pride committee had a store cleanup day last Saturday as progress continues towards opening the store. The exterior roof is complete and the building has been waterproofed. Work on the interior ceiling will start soon with work on windows, wiring and flooring to follow.     LaCrosse Layne and Glenn Martin traveled to Frisco, Texas, to watch their son, Matt Martin play for the Eastern Eagles in the exciting championship game.     Lacrosse The Rev. Dennis Bay officiated at the marriage of Jeanne LeClaire and Bob Brown in the gazebo at the LaCrosse Park Nov. 13. Jeanne was attended by her daughter, Michelle Magee, and Bob's best man was his son, Josh Brown. The gazebo was decorated with swaths of red and white gauzy fabric and bouquets of flowers.     LaCrosse The LaCrosse Outreach Thrift Store will have a $2 bag sale this week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Customers can fill a grocery bag with whatever they choose for $2.     LaCrosse Dust, cobwebs and spiders were flying at the church in Hay Saturday, Oct. 9. Dionne Evans, Bev Dodge and Jeannine Larkin were cleaning the kitchen and downstairs preparing for the hunters’ breakfast and lunch which will be served Oct. 23 at the church. The last hunters’ lunch was more than 30 years ago. Sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs, juice, hot chocolate and coffee will be served for breakfast and chili, cornbread and dessert for lunch.     LaCrosse Saturday’s Mudfest was a success with 18 vehicles coming to race on the dirt and mud tracks. It would not have been possible without the many volunteers. Ed Casey and Ken Kelso appreciate everyone who helped out with this worthy cause. All proceeds benefit the Richard L. Roberts Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship based on community service.     LaCrosse LaCrosse Community Pride grocery store board of directors has selected a roofing company to install a new roof on the store building. Work is anticipated to begin around Sept. 18. Comedian Leif Skyvig will return to LaCrosse Oct. 2 to entertain an adult dinner crowd. Mr. Skyvig was a hit at an earlier show and is back by popular demand.     LaCrosse LaCrosse Community Pride Grocery Store has officially become a State of Washington Corporation. An application has been filed with the IRS. for non profit status which will provide tax deductions for donors. A decision has been made to install a new roof on the store building.
