    Lacrosse The senior class is preparing a chicken fajitas feed for the home games at LaCrosse Friday, Jan. 15. A full meal deal for $6 will include a salad, rice krispie treat and beverage. The LW Tigercat basketball teams will host Garfield-Palouse teams Friday. Over Christmas break the Junior High boys basketball team placed second in a Christmas tournament at Colfax.   • Santa stop draws more than 50 youngsters

    LaCrosse More than 50 excited children from ages three weeks to 13 years came to visit and have their picture taken with Santa Saturday. The free pictures have been printed and are available at the Bank of Whitman. Jeannette Ping donated an additional four stuffed animals to be given out at the drawing.     LaCrosse Samantha Bafus represented LaCrosse in the Teen Read Week digital picture contest. As one of the grand prize winners she received a $15 iTunes gift card. Santa Claus arrives in town this Saturday, Dec 5, at the TeaPot Cafe at 9:30 a.m. and will be on his way at 11 a.m. Kids can bring their lists and join Santa for breakfast and pictures.     Lacrosse Breakfast with Santa will be Saturday, Dec. 5, at the TeaPot Cafe from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Free juice and muffins will be served to all children while supplies last.     LaCrosse The Lady Tigercats finished second in district volleyball and qualified for a return trip to the state competition in Yakima Friday and Saturday. The team will depart Thursday and their first match will be at 10:30 a.m. in the SunDome. LaCrosse Business Association met Wednesday to begin plans for Santa’s visit.   • Swank family benefit earns $1,200

    LaCrosse Norma Gibson, Ron Hopkins and Mike Stine competed on the Whitman County Cougars team in the special Olympic tournament at Zeppos Saturday, Oct 31. Norma and Mike received gold medals and Ron won a silver medal. The raffle to benefit the Drew Swank family was drawn at halftime of the football game last Friday evening. The winner of a night at the Holiday Inn Express in Spokane and a $100 gift certificate to Klinkerdaggers was Dionne Evans. The raffle reportedly raised approximately $1,200 to benefit the family.     Lacrosse Raffle tickets for a drawing held at halftime of the football game on Oct. 30 are available for $5 each at the Bank of Whitman. The raffle is for a nights stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Spokane and a $100 gift certificate at Klinkerdaggers Restaurant. All proceeds will benefit the family of Drew Swank.     LaCrosse The LaCrosse Business Association met to plan the Halloween Chili Feed. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. at the TeaPot Cafe. Judging for the costume contest will be at 4:30 p.m. at the cafe. Jasper Trucking sponsors the costume contest. The Volunteer Fireman will once again host a carnival at the fire station.     LaCrosse A benefit spaghetti feed for the family of Andrew Swank, Valley Christian football player from Hauser Lake who died Sept. 27 from injuries sustained in the homecoming game at Washtucna, will be Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Washtucna school cafeteria.   • Mud bog awaits competitors

    LaCrosse The mud will be flying once again in LaCrosse Saturday, Oct. 3. Mud Bog racing returns to the track just outside of town, with races starting at 11 a.m. All types of vehicles will try their hand at the 200 foot long track, with 24 inches of thick mud. Participants will range from street legal trucks to specially modified vehicles sporting lots of horsepower and huge tires to grip the mud. In addition, the ATV classification will return.     LaCrosse Homecoming week is this week for the LW Tigercats and the halls are decorated in accordance with the theme “Around the World.” The homecoming volleyball match will be Thursday at 6 p.m. in LaCrosse against Lind-Ritzville, and the homecoming football game will be in Washtunca at 7 p.m. with Valley Christian.     LaCrosse Three LaCrosse families are hosting foreign exchange students this year. Al and Carolyn Martin will host two while the Darrin Fleming family and the Gary Wargo family will each open their homes to one student.     LaCrosse Jett Nelson was treated to a special seventh birthday party at the home of Darin and Raeann Fleming recently. Ten friends plus one very special guest, Butch the WSU Mascot, helped Jett celebrate with swimming, pizza, cake and a WSU football autographed by Butch. The birthday party was donated to Dollars for Scholars by the Flemings and Ed and Deb Casey to the dinner/auction in June.
