Douglas H. Thompson passed away on April 9, 2021 in Pasco, Washington. A memorial service and burial will be held in Garfield, WA on Saturday, June 19, 2021 for friends and family. The service will begin at 12 pm at the Garfield Cemetery (Whitman County Cemetery District #2) (Elberton Road - southwest of town) with burial and military gun salute. The memorial service, eulogy and light snacks will follow at 12:30 at the American Legion Club, 211 E. Main Street.... Full story
Shirley (Carroll) Galloway passed away in April of 2020, while living at the VA Home in Walla Walla. She was born in Colfax to John and Geneva Carroll. Shirley spent her life serving and caring for others, starting work at the Colfax Hospital in her teens. A graduate of Colfax High School, she enjoyed connecting with the friends from her youth. A small service with Military Honors will be held at the Colfax Cemetery June 12 at 1 p.m. A gathering at Eddie’s Chinese Restaurant will follow. Pete Schmick passed away peacefully at his home on May 25, 2021. He was born in Colfax, Wa in January of 1927 to Peter K and Katie Schmick. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Marilyn K, his two sons John Schmick and Greg Formanack, his younger sister Joann and many nieces and nephews. Those who knew Pete, including the many critters he adopted, will remember him as a kind and gentle giant of a man with a big heart. His final resting place will be at the Medical Lake Washington Veterans cemetery.... Full story
