Serving Whitman County since 1877
Colfax graduate Brian Danaher was featured in the latest edition of the WSU Foundation Magazine. A 2006 graduate of Colfax High School where he competed in sports through the year, Danaher started his Cougar football career as an invited walk-on recruit. He made the team and was a redshirt his first year. He then worked up to the travel team and last year emerged as a starter on the WSU offensive line for eight games.
Late in the season last year, Danaher sustained a shoulder injury and his playing time was limited at the end of the season. He saw very little action in the UW game, and missed the Cougars last game at Hawaii.
Danaher, who has two years of eligibility remaining, has been awarded an athletic scholarship this year. His success on the Cougar team is unique because he played his high school football just down the road and decided to take a shot at making the roster of a neighboring Pac-10 school.
Danaher underwent surgery to repair the shoulder in January and had to miss spring football practice sessions. He is looking forward to the start of practices and the new Cougar season. He has two years of eligibility remaining for the Cougs.
He is majoring in criminal justice.
