Bar tab conviction

Nicholas Hupka, 23, who initially faced three charges after allegedly using a stolen credit card to run up a bar tab at Stubblefield’s in the Adams Mall at Pullman, was ordered to serve five days in jail Friday after pleading guilty to an amended charge of third degree theft. Hupka was charged with taking drinks from Stubblefields.

According to the Pullman police report, Hupka used the credit card of an Everett woman. She and Hupka were among those present at a party Dec. 11, 2008, and after the party she discovered her wallet was missing. The report said the suspect ran up a bill of over $346 at the bar later in the night. He allegedly told servers the credit card belonged to his girlfriend who had allowed him to use it.

He was sentenced to a year in jail with 360 days suspended. He was also fined $2,500 which was part of a total of $3,400 in fines and fees. The sum included restitution to the credit card holder in Everett.

Hupka was also initially charged with another theft charge involving the card and possession of stolen property.
