Palouse three-year-olds will be able to launch down a new slide, ring a bell, or run their fingers along chimes on the new-fangled playground equipment soon to be built in the city park.
With three slides, a set of bells, a set of chimes, and other engaging toys, the shiny new playground structure set to be built this fall is specifically designed for three to five-year-olds, said Shelley Goertzen, president of the Palouse Little People’s Park Project.
It will also have easier handicap access.
“I am so excited. I’m like a child getting ready to play on a brand new piece of equipment,” said Goertzen.
Her group has been working on fund raising projects for the past four and a half years to pay for the playground project.
The total bill for the whole structure, including labor, will be around $34,000, with the city of Palouse putting up $12,000 through a grant from the state’s recreation conservation office.
The remaining $22,000 will be paid by Goertzen’s group. About half of that came from the Haunted Palouse.
