State will offer tags to fish with 2 poles
Beginning this Saturday, people fishing in Washington will be able to use two poles to fish in state lakes. Two-pole endorsement option will apply to the majority of the 8,000 fishing lakes, ponds and reservoirs in Washington state.
Certain waters with threatened species or lakes designated as juvenille-only fishing will be excluded from the two-pole program. The list of 145 excluded lakes and ponds is available online at:http://wdfw.wa.gov/licensing/twopole/
Two-pole endorsements will be available Aug. 13 from authorized license dealers. Endorsements cost an additional $20 ($5 for resident seniors) over the recreational fishing license fee.
Revenue generated from the new fees will go toward hatchery fish production.
Ex Bronco coach takes Brewster job
Former Ritzville Coach Dwight Pflugrath will coach boys basketball and teach at Brewster next year. Pflugrath resigned two weeks ago as coach and athletic director at Ritzville to take the Brewster position. Pflugrath also coached track at Ritzville.
Pflugrath, who coached at Ritzville for 22 years, said friends and family members encouraged him to make the move to Brewster. He also sees the change as a way of staging down his assignments after 30 years as a teacher and coach. He coached at Mansfield before going to Ritzville.
The move to Brewster will also be a move up in the WIAA slots because Brewster’s Bears remain in the A division. Pflugrath noted the Bears right now are in the same mode that Colfax followed before the Bulldogs dropped to the B division. Brewster competes against larger A division schools with an enrollment which places them at the bottom or near the bottom of the classification.
Coach Pflugrath is a brother of Fred Pflugrath, former long-time principal at LaCrosse. Fred Pflugrath served at Manson and Columbia of Hunters before he retired. He is now residing at Dryden, the home area for the Pflugrath family.
