Palouse Area Therapeutic Horseman-ship (PATH), a program for people with physical, mental and emotional disabilities, will begin its 2009 fall sessions Sept. 15. PATH is a community service program of the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University and has been serving the region for 30 years.
The first of two five-week sessions will run from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, and the second session starts Oct. 20 and ends Nov. 19. Classes will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The program is looking for new volunteers. An orientation meeting for new volunteers will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 in the Animal Disease Biotechnology Facility (ADBF) room 1002. A training session for horse handlers will be Wednesday, Sept. 2, and a training session for side walkers will be Thursday, Sept. 3. Both training sessions will be at 5:30 at the stable. Volunteers must be 14 or older and attend both the orientation and a training session. Experience is not required.
