Trike-a-Thon at Tekoa daycare

Tekoa Country Kids Daycare Center’s fifth annual Trike-A-Thon was Thursday, Aug. 20. The children learned safety rules for riding trikes and bikes during the week. Deputy Paul Reavis from the Whitman County Bike Patrol came to help with the event. The boys and girls rode their trikes and bikes in laps to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In the past years Tekoa Country Kids has raised several thousand dollars for St. Jude’s.

Deputy Reavis spoke to the children about wearing helmets and other safety equipment while riding bikes. He advised the young riders to look out when approaching driveways and showed the children his patrol bike which is equipped with flashing lights and a siren.
