Report winners in first tourney for Lentil festival
The first annual Lentil Golf Tournament, sponsored by James Toyota, was Sunday, Aug. 23 at Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
This two-person scramble awarded Shane Brown and Ken Paulson first place as the low gross winners with a 65.
A three-way tie for low net went to Kyler and Shawn Nilsson, Jeff & Shawn Hill, and Jerry Curtis and Carl Root.
The tournament also awarded cash prizes for closest hole winners. Kyler Nilsson was closest to the pin on hole #4, Ken Paulson won hole #6, Shane Brown was the closest at hole #11, and Jerry Curtis was the winner at hole #16.
Shawn Hill was also the winner of the longest drive contest at hole #10.
The Sunday tournament was added as a third day event to the National Lentil Festival
Festival Director Mary MacDonald said they appreciated the support they received from James Toyota and Palouse Ridge Golf club.
JES cheer camp slated for Friday
Jennings Elementary School Little Kids Cheer Camp will be Friday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon. Youngsters from kindergarten age through fifth grade are encouraged to attend.
Participants are asked to meet at the Colfax High School football field. Registration forms are available at Jennings.
The camp will be conducted by CHS cheerleaders.
The youngsters will perform at the Sept. 3 Meet the Bulldog event and at the first home game against Pomeroy Sept. 11, according to Rhonda Pittman, cheer advisor.
Women’s golf
Results from Aug. 19 play: Velma Ulrich and Lynne Bruya tied in adjusted score competition for Colfax Women’s Golf Association play.
