Urge all to celebrate Constitution Week

Julie Pittmann, regent of the Esther Reed Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and Rachel Anderson, Washington State President for the National Society of the Children of the American Revolution, urge everyone to celebrate Constitution Week Sept. 17-23.

Each year, Consti-tution Week recognizes the constitution through school displays and country-wide forums and proclamations. This year marks the 222nd anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution.

Gov. Chris Gregoire has signed a proclamation declaring Constitution Week to be honored in Washington State. President Obama will also sign a proclamation honoring the Constitution later this month.

All citizens are encouraged to ring bells at 1 p.m. Sept. 17 in unison all across the country to ensure the Sound of Patriotism. Local schools will be ringing bells as part of their history classes, Pittmann said.
