Lamont Middle School had a total of 27 students with nine in each grade when school began Wednesday.
Joe Whipple is superintendent and principal.
Shannon Hughes teaches English, Study Skills, Crafts, Drama, 6th grade Keyboarding and Reading to all grades.
Chad Prewitt teaches 6 & 7th grade Social Studies, 8th grade History and Keyboarding/Careers to the 8th grade.
Josh Heide teaches all three grades in Math and Science and 7th grade Keyboarding.
Janet Whipple teaches Pre Algebra and is the instructor for the Band and Chorus.
Special Ed teacher is Michelle Dennis, Ardis Swift and Julie Shields are Para Educators, Jamie Manchester is the Librarian, Denise Wollweber is the school nurse and Janet Smith is the Business Manager.
Shellie Courneya does the cooking and is the custodian, and Marvin Safe is the grounds keeper and maintenance man. Ardis Swift also drives the bus.
Former Lamont resident Kathleen McAndrews of Sacramento, Calif., was the guest of honor at a luncheon and Lamont Kitchen Kutie reunion at the Lamont Community building Aug. 27. She is a former member of the group.
Other special guests were Kathleen’s cousins, Mary Anderson of Cheney and Jack and Sue Johnson Miller of Sammamish. Completing the guest list were Marguerite Miller and Ann McCoy, Spokane; Ginny Rajala, Airway Heights, Sherrill Nelson, Nita Polda, Charlotte Bowen, Jean Stromberger, Betty Stone, Diane Cook, Tom and Sue Pederson, Pat Peterson and Kathy Shields.
Sandy and Rick Anderson of Hunters were Friday guests at the home of Bud and Evelyn Shields. Jo Shields arrived to help her mother, Evelyn, on Saturday.
Betty Stone spent the weekend at the home of her sister and husband, Carol and Rob Vest of Newman Lake.
The family of Art and Jill Swannack had a busy weekend at the Lincoln County Fair. Jill is the superintendent of the sheep division and has served there four years. Their three children had entries in the sheep and goat categories. Lea won grand champion award in fitting and showing in the junior division. She received reserve in fitting and showing with her goat. Carmen won grand champion in intermediate sheep and won overall 4H sheep showman receiving a silver buckle for her efforts. Owen won the grand champion ribbon with his Polypay Sheep and was grand champion in the under seven division.
Dennis O’ Keefe of Lamont was guest speaker at the church service at the Northeast Washington Fair in Colville Sunday morning.
