Weather service tips will be available at fair

The National Weather Service is pairing with the county’s Department of Emergency Management for a booth at the fair. Saturday, Sept. 12, starting at 11 a.m., NWS staffers out of Spokane will teach the public about their job and how they do it. Facts like how to prepare for extreme weather and how to get weather updates on-line will be offered.

“NOAA’s National Weather Service in Spokane assists leaders and emergency management staff of Pullman, Colfax, and Whitman County in strengthening their local hazardous weather operations. These counties and communities have fine-tuned their weather action plans with respect to training, weather monitoring, warning reception, and local warning dissemination,” a NWS press release stated this week.
