The third annual harvest festival at Dahmen Barn is scheduled for Sept. 19, 10 to 5, with activities for all ages. Donations to the local food bank are requested for admission.
Resident artisans will demonstrate in their studios, and pioneer type crafts will be demonstrated in the yard. Fiber carding, spinning and weaving, lace making, paper making, blacksmithing, candle making, wood inlay, and quilting demonstrations are planned.
A pie baking contest with prizes will be followed by sales of pie a la mode as a fund raiser. The 2009 contest will be apple and apple with a twist.
The hay bale sculpture competition features cash prizes. Visitors vote with their spare change for the People’s Choice award.
Activities for kids will include a coloring contest and face painting. Restored antique farm equipment will be displayed and demonstrated.
Live music will be featured from 10 to 4.
New this year is a “Quick Draw” event by resident artisan Donna Baker, who has the capability of capturing a person’s likeness in a short time, and for $10 will produce a pencil portrait in 15 minutes.
