SJE Eagles defeat Lancers in opener

St. John/Endicott defeated Liberty in three straight Tuesday to start the volleyball season for Whitman County teams. The Eagles prevailed 25-12 25-22 and 25-17.

Kelli VanLith put down eight kills against the Lancers, and Katie Jensema had seven assists. Trisha Luft hit five aces off the serve line, and Gretchen Van Lith booked 12 digs.

The Eagles will open their home season tonight, Thursday, with Pomeroy as the guests.

Rosalia is also slated to open their season on the home court tonight with Asotin visiting.

Tekoa/Oakesdale opens their year Saturday at the Ritzville tournament and will host Dayton at Tekoa Tuesday.

Angie Rambo will be head coach of the Nighthawks this year while Kaci Tee, who led the `hawks into the big B semis last year, is on maternity leave.

Colton volleyball opens Tuesday with Tri-Cities Prep on the Wildcats’ court.

LaCrosse/Washtucna, the defending B1 champs who played in the Walla Walla tourney Saturday, will open their match season Tuesday with Touchet visiting at Washtucna.

Garfield/Palouse will start their season at the Freeman tournament Saturday and host Waitsburg/Prescott in a home opener Tuesday.
