Residents of Palouse are encouraged to attend a community meeting Sept. 30 to give their opinion on what the future Brownsfield project should look like. Any and all ideas will be welcomed at the public meeting, which will start at 7 p.m. in the Garfield/ Palouse High School gymnasium.
Representatives from the consulting firm, Maul Foster and Alongi (MFA), along with Palouse city staffers, the state department of ecology (DOE), and others will be in attendance.
The Brownsfield project is on the site of a former oil distributor in the 400 block of E. Main Street. The site can hold a building up to about 14,000 square feet.
The DOE has awarded Palouse the money to clean up the site and has also awarded it a $200,000 integrative planning grant.
This money allows for the DOE to pair up with Palouse and map out a long-term plan for the site.
MFA staffers have been researching around Palouse for the past few months to put together their observations on what entity they think would best benefit the community.
They will present their proposals at the session and seek feedback at the meeting.
