Library supporters honored

The Board of Trustees along with the Friends of Whitman County Library recently recognized Troy and Alicia Wilson of Tekoa and Lavelle Gardner of Oakesdale for their outstanding support of Whitman County Library. Friends president Virginia Pittman was joined by mayors from both towns to present the honors.

Troy and Alicia Wilson were honored as August Supporters of the Month for their efforts to improve the Tekoa Library. For two years Troy donated his time to volunteer in the library, with his employer Quest Corp. matching his volunteer efforts with cash contributions from the Quest Foundation. These funds have gone a long way in supporting Tekoa’s children’s programs. Alicia was a dedicated branch manager and volunteered many hours to clean and organize the Tekoa branch.

In Oakesdale, Lavelle Gardner was honored as September Supporter of the Month assisting the library in a number of ways. As a long-time Friend’s member and avid reader, she donates to children’s programs, helps out baking treats and assists other patrons in finding books to read.
