Caryl Lemon
Caryl Jean Lemon, 62, long-time Colfax resident, died suddenly at her home in Colfax Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009. Her funeral will be next Monday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Colfax. The Rev. Kathy Kramer and Mrs. Lemon’s brothers, Tom and Mark Gudmunson, also pastors, will officiate.
Visitation will be at Kramer Funeral home in Palouse Friday to Sunday from 9 to 9.
Born July 15, 1947, at Moscow to Donald and Elmira Stratton Gudmunson, she was raised in Colfax and graduated from Colfax High School with the class of 1965. She was employed as an apple grader at the Penawawa orchards after she graduated.
She married Robert Lemon Nov. 8, 1969, at Colfax and they made their home at Colfax. She was an Avon representative for 10 years and provided child care. She was a member of the Methodist Church and attended the Assembly of God Church and also taught Bible studies. She was a member of Thrifty Grandmothers and served as president for nearly five years. She enjoyed bowling and making afghans which she donated to new mothers in the area. She also enjoyed spending time on her computer, cooking, baking and donating food to people in need.
Surviving are her husband, Robert, her parents, four sons, Jonathon Perryman, Tacoma; Michael (Nikki) Lemon, Coeur d’Alene; Craig and Joel Lemon, Colfax; two daughters, Ami C. (Mark) Kramer, Palouse; and Bonne (David) Gabel, Colfax; maternal grandmother, Thelma Stratton, Colfax; her brothers, Tom (Kerry) Gudmunson, Miles City, Mont., and Mark (Lori) Gudmunson, Colfax; four sisters, Thelma (Roy) Morris, Colfax; Donna (Ed) Phillips, Clarkston; Alicia (Tony) Napier, Colfax; and Tina (Chad) Kinchelo, Colfax; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Firemen’s Toy Box in care of Lt. Scott Kruse, at 400 N. Mill; Teens of the Nazarene in care of the Church of the Nazarene at Colfax; or to Miles City Wesleyan Church, 618 Cottage Grove Ave., Miles City, Mont, 59301.
Charles E. Hawkins
A memorial services for Charles E. (Chuck) Hawkins, 57, former Colfax resident who has resided at Waukon, Iowa, for the past six years, will be Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. Lunch will be served at the church after the service.
Mr. Hawkins died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at his home in rural Waukon, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 17, 1952, in Postville, Iowa, to Edwin and Betty Dundee Hawkins, he was baptized at Forest Mills Methodist Church in Postville and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. He attended kindergarten in Postville and continued his education in Waukon. He worked as a mechanic and at Hygrade Packing in Postville following school. From 1974 until 1976 he served in the US Army with border patrol duty in Germany. Following his discharge he worked with his father in the farm implement repair business. In 1984, he and his family moved to Colfax, where he began an over-the-road trucking business and later a repair shop’
He married Roxanne Kay Dahlstrom in Coeur d’Alene June 5, 1998
After returning to Waukon in 2003 he remained active in the trucking business until June of this year.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his beloved dog, Colby, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Roxanne, Waukon; two children by a previous marriage, Lisa Hawkins (Trapper) Elmquist of Lewiston, and Chad (Kasey) Hawkins of Garfield; three step-children, Loni (Zach) Melton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Jennifer Thorsten of Moscow, and Jay Thorsten of Rossville, Iowa; two sisters, Karen Little of Waukon and Sheryl Hawkins of Texas City, Texas; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a step-grandson, Braylen Melton.

Ronald A. Pool
A memorial service for Ronald A. Pool, 72, will be Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Kramer Funeral Home, Palouse with the Rev. Kathy Kramer officiating. Cremation will precede the service.
Mr. Pool died Sept. 25, 2009, at the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, from complications of surgery and diabetes.
Ron was born on Jan. 20, 1937 at the Potlatch Hospital in Potlatch, Idaho. He attended Palouse schools and graduated from Palouse High School in 1955.
Ron went to work at Boeing in Seattle briefly and then came home and worked construction. In the 1960’s he went to work for Larson distributing, delivering beer for over 25 years. In 1987, he went back to construction, working for Eisinger Construction and then Shea Construction. After he retired in 1998. he spent as much time as he could in Elk River for fishing and hunting.
In 1955, he married Peggy Moore. They had two girls and later divorced. On Dec. 30,1976, he married Jeri Smith Leaton at Moscow. The couple made their home at Moscow.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years Jeri Pool, Moscow; two daughters, Terri Cowgill, Spokane Valley; Bryn (Joe) Waterman, Eagle, Idaho; one sister, Evelyn (Melvin) Crumley, Potlatch; six grandchildren, and three great – grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Philip Boyd Beeson
A memorial service for Phillip Boyd Beeson, 61, will be Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home, Palouse with the Rev. Kathy Kramer officiating. Cremation preceded the service. Urn burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Palouse.
Mr. Beeson died Friday, Sept 25, 2009, at his Lewiston home where he has lived for the past 3 years.
Born April 6, 1948, at Colfax to Boyd and Arlene Boone Beeson, he attended Palouse schools and graduated from Palouse High School in 1966.
He married Roberta Wallace Sept. 4, 1968, and the couple made their home in Moscow. They were divorced in 1976.
He attended a computer college in Spokane and later returned to Moscow and was employed at Washington State University for several years. He later moved to Seattle and then to Colfax in 1998 when his mother became ill. He moved to Lewiston in 2005.
He enjoyed fishing and tying flies. He was a good baseball player and later went to local baseball and softball games with his many friends in the area. He also loved watching football and listening to music.
Survivors include one daughter, Traci (P. J.) Nepine, Helena, Mont .; his father, Boyd Beeson, Palouse; one brother, Bruce (Joyce) Beeson, Palouse; and two grandchildren.
Donald F. Gregory
A celebration of life for Donald F. Gregory, 89, Oakesdale High graduate who served 27 years in the Air Force and retired as a master sergeant, was Sept. 19 at the Oakesdale cemetery with the Neptune Society in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 23, 1919, to Charles and Pearl Johnson Gregory at Winona, he lived with his family on a ranch west of Winona. After his father died, the family moved to Oakesdale, and he graduated from Oakesdale High School with the class of 1938. He joined the Army Air Corps during World War II and served as a gunner and radio operator on B-17 crews out of North Africa. He later served on B-36 and B-52 crews during his career. He served at bases in California, Johnson Island, Texas and South Dakota. He concluded his career at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing bridge, and watching the Mariners. His first wife, the former Ruth Haire, was a member of the 1942 class at Oakesdale. She died in 1957. His second wife, Viginia Kent Gregory, died in 2007. A daughter, Susan Gregory, died in 2004.
Surviving are his children, Donna Morissette and Steven Gregory of Spokane; Linda Haladyna, Henderson, Nev .; step-daughters, Virginia Ann Utley and Cheryl Bruihl, Spokane; and Diane Bruihl and Diane Bruihl of Portland; one brother, Donald (Nina) Gregory, Oakesdale; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
The family suggests memorials go the Oakesdale Presbyterian Church, Ameircan Diabetes Associaton, Spokane Area Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Imogene Gilman
A graveside service for Imogene R. Gilman, 83, former Endicott and Palouse resident, will be at Skyview Memorial Park Cemetery near Pendleton Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. Pastor Keith Wise will officiate.
She died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009. at the Avalon Care Center in Pullman where she had resided for the last two months.
Born March 14, 1926, in Clapham, N.M., to Lester and Cathryn Lewis Faircloth, she grew up on a farm in New Mexico and later moved with her family to the Athena, Ore., area when she was a teen.
She married Sherman Edward Gilman, whose family were friends of the Faircloth family, in Lewiston, Sept. 4, 1942.
They made their home in the Athena area before moving to Adams, Ore., where they made their home on three acres for several years.
She kept busy as a homemaker and mother of six children, and Sherman worked for many years at the Pendleton Grain Growers.
Imogene kept a large garden.
In later years they loved to fish and go rock hounding.
Later they moved to Ontario, Ore., and after his death about 10 years ago, she moved to Fruitland, Idaho.
She moved to Endicott six years ago to be closer to family, and she lived in Palouse for the last five years where she met new friends and enjoyed her retirement home.
She is survived by her six children; David Gilman of Endicott; Edward Gilman, Athena, Ore .; Larry Gilman, Fruitland, Idaho; Charles Gilman, Payette, Idaho; Gayle Gross of Phoenix, and Shirley Gettman, Arizona; a brother, Jim Faircloth of Moses Lake, two sisters, Rose Dempsey of Ephrata, and Addy Gorbett of Colville; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Rudolph rite set
Marvin Randall Rudolph, 72, Pasco, died Sept. 28, 2009. in Richland. He was born Nov. 2, 1936 in Endicott, and worked as a grain elevator superintendent.
Memorial services are planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at First Baptist Church in Richland. A full obituary will follow next week.
Stephens memorial
A graveside memorial service for Marvin and Patsy Stephens will be Sunday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa. Marvin and Patsy were former residents of Tekoa. She died in 1998, and he died in 2007. Anyone who wishes to attend and share their memories is welcome to come.
