LaCrosse
The mud will be flying once again in LaCrosse Saturday, Oct. 3. Mud Bog racing returns to the track just outside of town, with races starting at 11 a.m. All types of vehicles will try their hand at the 200 foot long track, with 24 inches of thick mud. Participants will range from street legal trucks to specially modified vehicles sporting lots of horsepower and huge tires to grip the mud.
In addition, the ATV classification will return. Nick Fleming, 12, of LaCrosse will look to defend his title on his powerful ATV. Participants are coming from all over the Eastern part of the state, from Kettle Falls to the Tri Cities to compete.
Vehicles will be inspected and classified by 11 a.m. A $25 entry fee is required with a guarantee of three runs. Trophies and prizes will be awarded.
Spectators are free, but a $5 donation per spectator vehicle is suggested. Concessions will be provided by the LaCrosse-Washtucna-Kahlotus cheer staff.
Family activities are slated to include the famous “water balloon sling shot” with a chance to win $50 by hitting the stationary target and young kids “mud bog” trike racing for youngsters.
All proceeds go directly to the Richard L. Roberts Memorial Scholarship which is awarded to a LaCrosse High School student who has demonstrated exceptional community spirit and dedication.
Selbu Church Women will have a bake sale Friday, Oct. 2 at the TeaPot Cafe. The sale will begin at 9:15 a.m. and will feature a variety of delicious home baked treats.
LaCrosse Branch of the Whitman County Library welcomes Mish Stanley as the new branch manager. Mish moved to LaCrosse years ago to farm with her husband. Now that her youngest is in preschool, she is looking forward to serving LaCrosse as the librarian.
After studying library usage, the library decided that it could better fill the needs of the community by changing its hours to Mondays, 1 to 5 p.m., and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Storytime and Second Monday Club times will remain the same.
