Two county teams which have picked up steam in early volleyball rounds collided in a battle Tuesday night at St. John. The battle lasted close to two hours before the Eagles prevailed.
Tekoa/Oakesdale and LaCrosse/Washtucna also continued to notch wins.
ST. JOHN/ENDICOTT Tuesday defeated Colton in four games in a collision of early league powers. Three of the four round games went for extra points.
Scores for the SJE win were 26-24 31-33 26-24 and 25-17.
Coach Megan Doering said the key factor for the Eagles was to play a steady, constant game. They trailed 13-19 in that first game and then came back for the 26-24 win in the opening round.
Colton came back for a 33-31 win in the second game, a battle which saw each team remain within range of the foe.
After losing the long battle in the second game, the Eagles steadied up and took the 26-24 in the third game.
Kelly VanLith put down 18 kills for the Eagles, and Kelsey Moser hit 13 for Colton. Lindsay Miller of the Eagles also had 13.
Katie Jensema put up 25 assists for the Eagles in the long battle and Simon lofted 18. Mikayla Nygreen had 17 for the Wildcats. Moser hit 29-30 for serves. .
The win advanced the Eagles to 3-1 in the league with the lone loss to Tri Cities Prep in the Thursday round.
Colton made the trip to St. John after a five game enduro win over Genesee in a non-leaguer Thursday. The Wildcats took it with a 15-12 in the fifth game decider. They were down 1-2 in the game count, but kept the match afloat with a 26-24 thriller in game four to send it to the fifth game.
Moser hit nine kills against the Bulldogs and Nygreen was credited with 13 assists.
TEKOA/OAKESDALE Tuesday rolled to Palouse and pegged a three-game sweep over the Vikings. Line score was a trio of 25-16 scores.
Desiree Chappell led the Nighthawks with 12 kills and two blocks and Katie Renstrom put up 12 assists.
Annie Leendertsen hit three kills for four blocks for the Vikings, and Kaycie Adair put up 11 assists. Missy Cochran scooped nine digs.
Tekoa/Oakesdale also took a sweep in the Thursday over Waitsburg/Prescott at the Cardinals’ gym. Line score for the win was 25-12 25-16 and 25-9.
Chappell rapped 18 kills for the `hawks at Waitsburg, and Dewan had 13 of the assists. Dewan also hit six aces over the three games.

LaCROSSE/WASHTUCNA hammered Rosalia 25-5 25-6 25-6 in the league round Tuesday with Della Fleming hitting 10 kills and Anne Fleming credited with eight assists. Chelsea McKay hit six aces and three blocks in the three game over the Spartans.
Katelyn Maley had three kills for the Spartans, and three digs.
Rosalia Thursday was downed by Liberty in a non-leaguer, 25-21 25-15 and 25-19 with Katelyn Maley hitting seven kills and Briann Maley credited with three blocks. Kristen Paulson booked seven digs.
