Bringing motion to life
This year’s theme for National Physical Therapy Month is “Move Forward: Physical Therapy Brings Motion to Life”. It is saying that Physical Therapists help you restore and improve motion to achieve long-term quality of life. Certainly one can agree that freedom of motion is vital to our lives.
Did you know that physical therapists are experts in the way the body moves? “They can help improve people’s quality of life by helping them move freely so they can do the things they want to do without pain and discomfort”, according to APTA President R. Scott Ward, PT, PhD. “Motion is anti-aging and something we take for granted until we lose it”.
In studies performed by the American Physical Therapy Association, patients made it clear that they were more likely to choose a PT if they knew she or he could significantly improve mobility to perform daily activities and, in many cases, provide an alternative to painful and expensive surgery as well as manage or eliminate pain without medication.
We are very proud of our physical therapy team at WHMC and recognize the great contribution they make to WHMC and our patients. Under the guidance of our rehabilitation manager, Eddy Maillot, our excellent PT team members are Mary, Robyn, Rory, Marlo, Carla, and Jennifer along with Jolene who keeps everything on track at the front desk.
