Papers have been developed by The League of Women Voters of the United State on why health care costs so much and how it developed, according to Alice Schroeder, vice president of the Pullman chapter. Residents can find the papers at http://www.lwv.org. (Look for Health Care on the left and, on the next page, to the right for Background Papers.)
Schroeder added two other extensive nonpartisan resources are provided by the Kaiser Family Foundation, http://www.kff.org, where viewers can compare various plans being discussed in congressional committees, and http://www.aarp.org, with extensive coverage of the effects of these plans on Medicare.
Also, the Pullman league has also provided a copy of the 45 minute DVD, “Health, Money and Fear,” which gives a first-hand look at pressures faced by doctors from insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and patients. This DVD looks at the cost question and offers common sense suggestions, she said.
