Sentencing set for Grenz

An Oct. 16 sentencing has been scheduled for Kevin Grenz, Farmington, after he was convicted by a superior court jury Oct. 6 on a charge of child molestation in the first degree following a two-day trial. The charge against Grenz said the molestation took place in late 2001.

Grenz at one point had pleaded guilty to the charge, but the court revoked the plea and reinstated the trial date. The plea was revoked because Grenz had not been fully advised of the sentences he faced in the wake of entering a guilty plea.

The trial began Monday with jury selection. Lone witnesses in the case were the victim and Sheriff Brett Myers.
