GP Middle School plans Veterans’ Day assembly

The Garfield-Palouse Middle School and Garfield and Palouse Elementary Schools will host their annual Veterans’ Day Celebration Nov. 6 to honor all local veterans and their families. The assembly will start at 9 a.m. (not at 8:30 as previously noted) at the Middle School gym in Garfield, and will include a very special musical program under the direction of Rebecca Hemphill.

Keynote speaker will be Brigadier General Carleton Barnes Waldrop of the United States Air National Guard, and guest speaker will be Palouse resident Charlene Baldwin. Winners of a student writing competition on why “Freedom Isn’t Free” will also be on the program.

The school is also conducting a month-long art competition to design the cover for the program.
