A formal charge of second degree theft was filed with a summons in superior court Wednesday against David Sanchez, 19, Pullman, after officers allege they recovered stolen items from his residence. The police report said the suspect was located through log-on information which was revealed when he turned on one of the missing items, an iPod Touch. According to the report the iPod Touch automatically links with wireless internet when turned on. The suspect was tracked when the iPod was linked to the WSU wireless internet system.
The iPod, headphones, and a netbook computer were reported missing from a residence at Webster Hall on campus. They were recovered from the suspect’s residence on NW Westwood in Pullman Sept. 23 in a warrant search, according to the police report filed with the charge.
