Leah Chinell reports on the recent fire safety event recently at the Endicott school. All students participated. A small trailer home complete with a kitchen, living room and bedroom was set up on the premises. With help from Whitcom, local fire volunteers and the Inland Empire Fire Chiefs Assoc., students moved through the three rooms of the trailer, where they learned about common hazards and the importance of having an escape plan with two ways out of their home.
The annual Grandparents Day will be Oct. 28 starting at 10 a.m. with registration at 9:45 a.m. Students up to eighth grade are asked to invite their grandparents to this event by calling or writing. Students who do not have local grandparents and are interested in the “adopt-a-grandparent” program are asked to contact the office. The program starts at 10 a.m. with classroom visitation. Tours start at 10:30 and lunch is at 11:30. Ambassadors will be ESJ Middle School ASB Officers and leadership class.
Each group of students was told to close their eyes, when they opened them the room was full of smoke and they had to work together to find the window and open it. They then proceeded out of the window with the assistance of the waiting firefighters.
Wildcat football plays Gar-Pal this Thursday in Palouse, game starting at 4:30 p.m.
Endicott Community Club German dinner and auction will be Nov. 1, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Endicott School. Price is $6 for children, $12 for ages 11 and up. The menu includes German and potato sausage, meatballs, noodles, kraut kouga, sauerkraut, tossed salad, rye bread, rolls, apple crisp, pumpkin dessert, cookies and beverages. The auction ends at 2:30 p.m.
School will be closed Nov. 2 and 3 for teacher in-service training and parent-teacher conferences. School will also be closed Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
