Bulldog netters finish 6-0 league run

Colfax netters swept Lind-Ritzville in a homecoming game Saturday for their last show in the home gym before the playoff season. The win ended the Colfax league run at 6-0

Line scores were 25-14, 25-4 and 25-20.

Shaina Simonson and Hannah Harazin put a block down in front of the Broncos Saturday in the three-game win over Lind/Ritzville. The win ended a 6-0 league run for the Bulldogs.

Colfax now takes the top slot going into the league qualifier. The Bulldogs and NWC Crusaders, number two, have both earned guarantee tickets for the district event which will be Nov. 7 at St. Georges and will collide again Saturday to see who gets the top ticket.

The other four league teams will battle through an elimination format which will end the season for one team. Action starts Thursday with 3-6 and 4-5 games at the home of the higher rated teams. That will be Liberty at Davenport and Reardan at Lind/Ritzville.

Last Saturday for homecoming, Coach Sue Doering put her senior six out on the court to start against the Broncos. The seniors include Kayla and Rachel Johnson, Megan Pearson, Brooke Waldo, Danielle Herne and Carmen Hall.

They put up a 6-2 lead, but the Broncos closed it up until Rachel Johnson broke open a nine-point serve run with three aces in the process.

Waldo also took advantage of her court time and hit 19-24 serving, including a six-point run in the first game from 19 to 24.

In the 25-4 second game Colfax launched a blistering serving attack at the Broncos who couldn’t rebound.

For the match, Kayla Johnson had 13 kills and two blocks, and Herne had one of her best days with seven kills and one block.
