Court questions fear factor
Brian J. Berntgen, Oakesdale resident, jailed on breaking a court protection order, was allowed pre-trial release from jail without bail Friday.
Berntgen was jailed on allegations he violated a court protection order when he was reported to be looking in the window of an ex-girlfriend at Oakesdale, Oct. 12.
The court found the person listed for protection in the court order had made over 40 telephone calls to Berntgen and that raised a “serious question” about allegations that she feared the defendant. The court also found Berntgen had a job prospect and would lose insurance if he remained in jail pending resolution of the case.
