LaCrosse driver rolls on Palouse Highway

Cala R. Wright, 27, LaCrosse, was taken by ambulance to Whitman Hospital after she was hurt in a one-car accident.

The accident happened on the Colfax-Palouse Highway last Thursday afternoon six miles east of Colfax.

Wright had to be helped out of the sedan after it landed in the ditch with the driver’s side down. The scene was just down the grade from the Mike Johnson residence east of the Clear Creek Road intersection.

According to the Washington State Patrol report, Wright was driving a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am westbound at 3:21 p.m. when she lost control on a corner. The back end of the sedan swung out of control, and the car left the roadway to the right. The Pontiac then went back across the roadway, rolled in the ditch on the opposite side and came to rest on its side. The driver was unable to crawl out of the sedan until a rescue crew arrived from Colfax and helped her out of the passenger side.
