Giving is a circle without end

“Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat. Please put a penny in the old man’s hat. If you haven’t got a penny, a half-penny will do, if you haven’t got a half-penny, then God bless you.”

My grandmother taught me that old English rhyme when I was a child. We never had goose, and half-pennies didn’t exist anymore, but I got the point. If I had anything at all, I needed to think about giving.

Yes, that time of year when we are asked to give more than any other is upon us. And more people need help in our country and around the world than have in a long time.
