Serving Whitman County since 1877
Colfax football coach Mike Morgan was named Seattle Seahawks Coach of the Week. The honor provides $500 for the Bulldog football team and several free tickets to the Dec. 6 Seahawks game in Seattle.
“It’s just an awful nice honor,” said Morgan who also serves as the Colfax athletic director and head of the district instrumental music program.
Morgan credited his coaching staff and players, who have stacked an 8-0 record this season, for winning the honor.
The state football championships fall on Dec. 5 this year in Tacoma. If the Colfax football team dominates their way to the playoffs, Morgan and his staff hope to attend the Dec. 6 Seahawks game.
District Superintendent Michael Morgan said he could not have been more proud.
“It’s very exciting to have our staff recognized for the hard work they do in helping kids be successful,” Supt. Morgan said.
Twenty coaches in the state are named for the award each year, said Paul Johns, assistant director of community relations for the Seahawks.
Recipients are picked by a Washington State Football Coaches Association panel. Two coaches are picked every week during the football season.
The state coaches association picks the recipients and then refers them to the Seahawks community relations department.
