Many welcome pastor’s return

Approximately 52 people attended a potluck at the Country Bible Church last Sunday after services to welcome back Pastor Floyd Overstreet after a two month absence due to back problems and to celebrate his birthday Nov. 2. Special guests included Tom and Claudia Mays and Don and Eva Aeschliman who filled in as speakers during the pastor’s absence.

Gena Jones of Chatillon, Italy, recently spent time with her mother, Fran Jones, and her brother, Bryan Jones of Dusty. A Gonzaga-In-Florence reunion was the weekend of Oct. 23-24 and Gena, Bryan, and their brother, Warren Jones of Post Falls, all attended. Special events took place on the Gonzaga campus in Spokane, ending with dinner and social time Saturday evening at the Davenport Hotel. Gena returned to her home in Italy Monday, Oct. 26.

Dick and Helen Appel attended the Washington State Sheep Producers Convention in Spokane last week. Helen is the president of the Washington Woolgrowers Auxiliary. Dick left the convention early to join the Appel clan hunting elk in the Blue Mountains. Dick got his elk Saturday and got home before Helen did.

Saturday, Carol Kyllo hosted a get-together in her home for several women. Attending were Brenda Camp, her mother Cecilia Campo of Barranquilla, Colombia, South America; Paula Laurens, Verna Stephenson, Lelia Zaring and Karen Broeckel.

Marc and Judy Watson are happy to announce that the aroma around the south Alkali Flat area should improve now that their water problem has been fixed.

Sunday, around approximately 1 p.m., a fire of unknown origin began in the CRP of the former Bob and Connie Dorman property. The land now belongs to Rick Dorman of Mesa. Trucks from Dusty, Onecho, LaCrosse and Wilcox responded to the event. It burned approximately 100 acres of CRP before being extinguished by 4 p.m.

Dusty BB Club will meet at the home of Dianne Appel next Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. Jane Aune is co-hostess. The program will be “Weather Watch”. Roll call will be, “What was your scariest weather event?” Please call either hostess if you are unable to attend.
