Coming of a 30-0 loss to Colfax, the Nighthawks of Tekoa, Oakesdale and Rosalia will end their season Friday against Pomeroy at Oakesdale.
Both teams enter the game with a 2-2 league record. TOR Coach Ken Lindgren said he expects a good game between the two evenly matched teams.
“This is going to put the punctuation on the end of our season,” he said.”
Pomeroy brings in a bruising style, powered by a strong offensive line that clears the way for tailback Tye Knebel.
Nighthawks capitalizes on team speed, especially on defense.
Lindgren said he was impressed last week by the play of his defense against Colfax. Most of the Bulldog scoring came off of field position gained from the TOR turnovers. The ‘hawk D did not allow the Colfax offense to break past mid-field throughout the third quarter.
He said his offense will need to focus on taking care of the ball if they hope to top the Pirates.
The ‘hawks defensive line took a hit against Colfax, as end Brandon Hovde tweaked his knee while blocking an Alex Teade pass in the second quarter. Hovde has provided key pressure from the defensive front and has been a big target as a tight end on offense.
Lindgren added Friday’s game marks the end of the line for some key TOR players. Tailback Zach St. John, quarterback John Kuhn, rover Zach Smith and lineman Justin Rawlins will all graduate.
