A family tradition: Doering duo collects matching trophies at state VB show

Coach Megan Doering of the St. John/Endicott Eagles, receives special congratulations from her mom, Coach Sue Doering of the Colfax Bulldogs, in a late celebration Saturday night in Yakima’s SunDome.

Sue Doering’s Bulldogs ran a 12-game sweep over four foes to collect their sixth straight trophy, the school’s second in the state 2B division.

The trophy was the 10th for the Colfax coach.

After the presentations in one corner of the dome, Coach Sue Doering converted to parent mode and watched the Eagles and LaCrosse/Washtucna battle through the end of a five-game title match.

Coach Megan Doering, who graduated from Colfax in 2001, and her Eagles bagged their first trophy.
