PCT will present 1940s Yule tale
A Christmas story about nine-year old Ralphie Parker and his friends on his quest for a genuine Red Ryder BB gun in the 1940s will be performed at the Pullman Civic Theatre beginning Dec. 4. Experience all the mischief of the holidays which was adapted for the stage by Philip Grecian, and directed by Andrea Gonzales.
Performances will be December 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 6, 13, 19 at 2 p.m. at the PCT theater on NW Nye Street behind Dissmores.
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. They can be purchased at Neil’s Flowers and Gifts, Wild Ivy, Dissmores and the PCT Box office.

Taste ‘n Tear 4H
The Taste ‘n Tear 4H Club met Saturday, Nov. 14 at the home of leader Helen Appel. They made chicken noodle soup, pizza salad with tomato vinaigrette, basil parmesan puffs and apple-raisin bread pudding.
Lisa Frei came and talked about pattern inspiration and design. Officers elected were Sarah Appel, president; Anna Roberts, vice-president; Clara Higginson, secretary; Morgan Anderson, treasurer; Annette Peppel, reporter.
The Club is making Christmas stockings for charity and cookies for Tapestry, the women’s choral group. At the next meeting, Saturday, Dec. 5, each family should bring 10 stockings and three dozen cookies, plus an optional one dozen for trading.

Swartz girl born
A daughter, Gracie Kay, was born Nov. 15, 2009, at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax, to Tami and Mike Swartz. Maternal grandparents are Steve and Kay Andal, Mt. Vernon. Paternal grandparents are Mick and Jackie Swartz, Hunters. Weighing seven pounds, 13 ounces at birth, the baby joins two brothers, Wyatt, 4 and Cooper, 18 months.
Bogner son born
A boy, Adrian Gage, was born Nov. 11, 2009, at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax, to Marjorie and Michael Bogner. Weighing seven pounds, 15 ounces, at birth, the baby joins one brother, Quinton.

ART
UI Prichard Gallery on Main Street in Moscow will feature “Up On the Wall, 6 Painters from the West” Oct. 16 to Dec. 5. Work from painters in four states will feature diverse approaches to technique and media.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
MUSIC
WSU Opera Workshop will present “Love for Young and Old” at 8 p.m. tonight Thursday, Nov. 19, in Bryan Hall Theatre. The students in the workshop are under the direction of Julie Anne Wieck, associate professor of music, and will be accompanied by Karen Savage, a piano faculty member.

WSU visiting writers program will host poet Sarah Vap, Dec. 3l.
BOOKMARK
Kids in grades 1-4 are invited to Third Thursday at the Colfax Library from 3:30 to 4:30 Nov. 19. Thanksgiving will be the theme.
The Colfax Library will hosts an Inland Northwest Blood Center donation Nov. 19 from 1-6 p.m. No appointments are necessary and interested parties should bring picture identification, drink plenty of fluids and eat a nutritious meal prior to giving blood.
Whitman County Library System will be closed Nov. 26-27 for Thanksgiving. Library materials will not be due during the closure but online services and book drops are available to request items or return them.
Play and Learn Day times for infants, toddlers, young children and those who care for them are Fridays from 10-11:30 in the rear of the US Bank Building.
