Pea-Lentil association plans 44th convention

Western Pea & Lentil Growers Association will conduct their 44th annual convention Dec. 9 at the Best Western-University Inn at Moscow. Check-in for the day-long meeting starts at 7:45 a.m. followed by pesticide sessions (2 credits available) and the annual WPLGA business meeting in the morning.

Keynote luncheon speaker Dr. Mehmet Tulbek from the Northern Crops Institute will talk about pulse flours. The Lentil Family of the Year award will be presented to Larry Smith, Nez Perce County Extension agent.

The afternoon features presentations from the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council’s (USADPLC) Domestic and International Marketing departments as well as a highlight of insurance for pulses from a Risk Management Agency representative. Reports from the Idaho and Washington Commissions and a report on government affairs will wrap up the afternoon meetings.

At 3:30, a researchers poster session and exhibitor exchange will open and attendees can visit with experts in crop protection, variety development and other related areas.

Registration forms are available through the USADPLC. A $5 late fee applies to any registrations received after Dec. 1, Membership in the WPLGA is not required to attend the convention.
