New Storytime site
Because of renovations underway at the library building storytime sessions at the Colfax Library will be on the second floor of US Bank beginning next week, Dec. 3. Baby time for ages 0-2 begins at 10:10 a.m. with songs, finger plays and a short story. Toddler time for ages 2-3 starts at 10:30 a.m. with preschool time for ages 4-6 at 11 a.m.
Craft sale at Palouse
The Palouse Round Table craft sale will be Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Palouse Arts Council Building, formerly the Palouse Grange Hall. Many unique, inexpensive handmade crafts will be for sale, and a lasagna lunch with cole slaw, beans and garlic bread will be served during the noon hour. Pie and coffee will be available all day.
Raffle prizes will be a quilt, an afghan, a basket of goodies and a $100 gift certificate for the Palouse Market.
Proceeds go to scholarships and community projects supported by the Round Table.
Also, upstairs in the same building will be the Palouse Christmas Antique Sale.
WSU, Pullman bands
to combine for concert
The WSU Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will welcome the Pullman Community Band to the Bryan Hall Theatre stage in a free public concert featuring an evening of band favorites and contemporary works at 8 p.m. Dec. 3.
The Symphonic Band, conducted by David Turnbull, and Pullman Community Band, directed by Heidi Jarvis, will join forces to open the concert with traditional band favorites, including Fillmore’s “American’s We” march, Grainger’s “Irish Tune from Country Derry,” and Shostakovich’s rousing “Festive Overture.” The relationship between these town and gown ensembles goes back many years.
The Wind Symphony, conducted by Timothy Robblee, will perform a broad spectrum of works ranging from a Mozart wind octet from the “Marriage of Figaro,” Charles Ives’ “Variations on America,”
Two works of northwest composers will be featured: “First Flight,” composed by WSU’s own Gregory Yasinitsky and “Slow Voyage Through Night” by Robert Hutchinson, Tacoma.

Happy Hooves 4H
Happy Hooves 4H group puts on a charity horse show in August every year. They donate to the Humane Society in Pullman, and this year they donated $400. Ashley Reisonauer, the treasurer of the club, wrote the check. Maja Olson is the president, KT McMurray is the vice president, Sidney Reynolds is the secretary, and Chandler Pfaff is the reporter.

Hudkins daughter born
A girl, Kinsey Kay, was born Nov. 16, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, to Rob and Sara Hudkins of Rosalia. Maternal grandparents are Tom and Peggy Henning, Rosalia. Paternal grandparents are Marilyn Hudkins, St. John and Jim Hudkins, Deer Park. Maternal great-grandparents are Gene and Gwelda Henning, Malden and Elton and Diane Hill, Malden. Weighing six pounds, 12 ounces at birth, she is the couple’s first child.
Boy joins Klaveanos
A baby brother has joined the Matt and Jill Klaveano family. Dutch James Klaveano was born Nov. 12, 2009, weighing seven pounds, 10 ounces.
Whitgro Inc. conducts
first annual meeting
The first annual meeting of Whitgro, Inc. was Oct. 28 at the Endicott School with approximately 90 people attending.
Whitgro was formed by a merger of St. John Grain Growers and Wheat Growers of Endicott in June of 2008,
Dinner was served by Jenny Meyer of Endicott.
Jon Webber of JW & Associates, Colfax, discussed the year-end financial report, and President Alan Smick gave the president’s annual report. Beau Duff provided a marketing presentation, and Manager Tim Siler delivered his report and introduced directors, employees and guests.
Members of the board of directors were retained on a unanimous ballot.
