Bulldogs bag 18 grid slots on all NE team
Colfax landed 18 of the slots on the NE-2B all league team which was announced this week. Coach Mike Morgan was also named coach of the year for the league.
Two of the Colfax players, Tyler McNannay and Will Hatley, actually appeared three times on the all- NE roster. McNannay, a junior, was named for running back, punting and kickoffs. Hatley, a senior, was named all-league receiver, defensive back, and kickoff returner.
Seniors Sam Mellor, Tyler Morse and Ryan Conrad were named to both lines, and junior Alex Teade was named all-league quarterback and defensive back. Junior Kellen Morgan was named all-league receiver with Hatley and defensive back.
Also named to the first team were Tuffy Hickman, junior, offensive line and Stetson Steiger, senior, linebacker.
Other NE players on the list were Ryan Humphrey and Ty Williquette, Reardan seniors, offensive line; Connor Glick, Davenport senior, and Chris Pence, Reardan senior, running backs C.J. Trego, Reardan senior, defensive line; Glick, Pence, and Traven Smith, Lind/Ritzville junior, linebackers;
Colfax players on the NE second team were Austin Neu, junior, offensive line; Steiger, running back; Hickman, defensive line and Justin Berarducci, sophomore, defensive back.
Other second team players were Jordan Green, junior, Liberty, offensive line; Smith of LR, offensive line; Cameron Kiesz and Micah Brown, juniors, Lind/Ritzville, running backs; Adam Kaiser, senior, Davenport, receiver; Eric Hammond, junior, Liberty, receiver; Chace Bell, junior, Reardan, quarterback; Brandon Gimmaka, junior, Lind/Ritzville, defensive line; Williquette, defensive line; Garrett Wood, senior, Davenport, George Canning, senior, and Jordan Green, junior, both Liberty, linebackers and Sascha Braendle, junior, Reardan, linebacker; Jake Eichner, junior, Line/Ritzville, and Bell, defensive backs; and Bryce Hilzer, junior, Line/Ritzville, kick returns.
SE 1B netters name Van Lith for MVP honor
St. John senior Kelly Van Lith was selected for MVP honors for volleyball players in the 1B division for district nine. Trisha Luft, senior libero for the state champions, was also selected for all league honors.
All leaguers for the LW Tigercats were senior veterans Chelsea McKay, Gladys Martinez, and Della Fleming.
Colton’s Kelsey Moser, senior, and Mollie Kramer, junior, were also named all-leaguers.
Also named to the district 9 team were Zoe Weaver, Touchet senior; Taylor Graham and Sydney Disselkamp, TCP seniors.
Honorable mention for the league went to Gretchen Van Lith, SJE freshman; Katelyn Maley, Rosalia senior; Daniella Jasen and Jaelyn Hogan, TCP seniors; and Carley Frazier, Touchet junior.
Bluewood slopes open for season
Bluewood Ski Resort at Dayton was slated to open Wednesday, just in time for skiers and snowboarders to hit the slope over the Thanksgiving holiday.
More than 16 inches of new snow fell on the hill Sunday night, bringing the resort’s snow total to 47 inches at the top and 32 inches at the lodge.
Bluewood will be open from 9 to 4 Wednesdays through Sundays. They will also be open every day except Christmas from Dec. 19 through Jan. 3.
Lift tickets are $42 for adults, $38 for students with ASB cares and $33 for those 65 and older or children in first through eighth grades. \
Nighthawk VB seniors
Tekoa/Oakesdale will graduate five seniors off this years SE title team. The grads will include SE MVP Desiree Chappell, Kim Pakootas, Katie Graffis, Bryanna Solano, and Sara Warner. (Part of the listing was cut off the end of last week’s state story.)
