Colfax Golf Club members have arranged to finance installation of a new modular home at the golf course, city administrator Carl Thompson informed the city council Monday. The city earlier this year approved a plan to purchase a modular home and rent it to the golf club.
The real estate at the golf course is owned by the city and leased to the golf club. The actual buildings and club facilities are owned by the golf club. Thompson said the golfers decided to finance the purchase of the new house so it will also be owned by the club.
The golfers initially offered to purchase land for the building, but they would have had to buy at least five acres to meet zoning requirements to install a septic system.
The former residence at the course has been razed. The foundation for the new building will have to be raised approximately 18 inches to get it above the official flood zone of the N. Palouse River. The foundation will also have to be built to allow flow of water beneath the house in the event of flooding.
