Serving Whitman County since 1877
After seven years in Colfax and almost a life-time on the job, Whitman hospital administrator Jon Davis will finish his last day at the office Friday, Dec. 18.
“It’s the right time. And I’m going to miss a lot of the people,” Davis said.
His public retirement party will be Friday, Dec. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the administration annex at the hospital.
Davis worked previously as a CEO at a hospital in Odessa. He has worked in administration in the medical field for most of his life- his longest stint for 14 years at a Catholic medical center in Richland.
Davis will be on-call during working hours for the hospital until Dec. 31, when his employment officially ends.
The new administrator Dave Womack came on the job Dec. 7. He and his wife Julie moved here from Greenville, Ill., and have purchased a house in Colfax.
Womack spent most of his 25 years of his career in medical administration in the Air Force hospitals around the United States.
This included two years in Spokane as the CEO of the medical group at Fairchild Air Force Base in the early 2000s. That was his last stint with the Air Force before retirement when they moved to Greenville.
Womack said they fell in love with the Inland Northwest while here and when the job opened up at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center, he applied.
Womack believes it will be a few months before he becomes familiar with the hospital ins and outs. He said he was pleasantly surprised by the high level of customer service at the hospital.
As far as adjusting to Colfax, he said they aren’t quite yet used to the sun going down so early.
