The attorney for a Moscow man accused of hitting two WSU students with his car is saying his client may have been experiencing a psychotic episode brought on by caffeine consumption. Has caffeine ever made you psychotic?

Alan Haas, Pullman

“No. And I drink a pot and a half of coffee every day. I did have a Red Bull once, and it kept me up all night. I could see how that could drive you nuts.”

Henry Knecht, Moscow

“No. I heard that, though. I think he’s just trying to find a way to avoid responsibility for a mistake he made. If it was really that bad, he shouldn’t have been driving to begin with.”

Min-Yong Lee, Pullman

“No, I don’t drink very much coffee.”

Do you drink any energy drinks?

“No. I don’t like how jittery they make me feel.”

Andrew Peabody, Pullman

“No. I think that’s a load of crap. If caffeine made you psychotic, then everybody on the road would be crazy.”
