Tekoa giving tree nears deadline

Tekoa

Portia Pillig, owner of Tekoa’s Variety Store, for the fourth year has headed up Tekoa’s Giving Tree to children of her hometown.

“I want to be sure that every child has something to open under the tree,” Portia stated.

Every year she says many come to the store asking for help for their young ones. Gifts are given out to children 18 years and younger.

Tekoa has been very generous in their giving and continues to help this year. Saturday, a group of volunteers, regulars being Portia, Linda Eggers, Holly Squibb and Jennifer Leitner and many others will spend all day wrapping gifts.

Deadline for signing up or giving to the tree this year will be Friday, Dec. 18, by 6 p.m. at the Variety Store.

Portia also organizes the Halloween Haunted House and helps sell Tekoa T-shirts during Slippery Gulch Days.
