strong>Elda Schluneger Elda Schluneger
A graveside service for Elda Buckley Schluneger, 92, retired Colfax area farm woman, was Tuesday morning at Onecho Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Onecho Bible Church. She died last Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009. She has been a resident of the Courtyard in Colfax for the past five years.
Born Oct. 9, 1917, in Cozad, Neb., to Charles and Inez Buckley, she moved west with her family to the Colfax area to escape Dust Bowl conditions during the Depression years. She married Earl Schluneger, June 22, 1939, and they raised cattle and operated a grain and cattle trucking business. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Schluneger, Yakima, and Sherry Cox, Colfax, two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death was a great-grandchild Thomson Lee Cox.

Ellen Pressnall-Scholl
A family graveside service for Ellen Pressnall-Scholl, 73, formerly of Potlatch, and Quartzite Ariz., was Saturday, Dec. 19, at 3 p.m. at the Freeze Cemetery. A memorial service followed at the Potlatch Presbyterian Church.
She died last Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, after a 12-year struggle with emphysema and COPD.
Born April 18, 1936 at Potlatch to Harold and Addie Cole Callihan, she attended Hatter Creek Country School and then at Princeton and Potlatch. She married Daniel Haskell at Blackfoot, and they later divorced. She married Benjamin Pressnall at Culdesac and the couple made their home at Princeton where they operated a long-haul trucking business for several years. She was one of the first female semi-truck drivers in the United States.
Mr. Pressnall died from brain cancer in 1984.
She was the first female employee of General Telephone to climb telephone poles to repair phone lines. She shoveled snow for tree sawyers in the woods, and could operate backhoes and caterpillars with great precision. She also worked as a waitress for several years at Carter’s Log Inn in Potlatch.
Ellen became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked as an in-home health care provider in the Moscow, Potlatch, and Palouse area from 1986 to 1996.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in McMinnville, Ore., Yuma, Arizona, and Potlatch.
She married Kenneth Scholl Sept. 1, 2002 at Moscow. The couple enjoyed R.V. traveling in Nevada, Arizona and Idaho. She made several trips across the skies of Quartzite on a motorized parachute, rode ATVs through the desert and toured many back roads.
Survivors include her husband, Ken, at their Moscow home; two sons, Dale Pressnall, Moscow; and Jim (Renee) Haskell, Viola; one daughter, Rhonda (Marshall) Comstock, Moscow; two step-daughters, Dena (Darin) Cornwell, of Colbert and Darla (Ed) Wilson, Spokane; one brother, Robert (Cecilia) Callihan, Potlatch; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Potlatch Presbyterian Church.
Jeraldine R. Carter
A memorial service for Jeraldine R. (Jerri) Carter, 71, a resident of Potlatch, was Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Potlatch. The Rev. Larry Vieth officiated.
She died Thursday afternoon, Dec. 17, at Good Samaritan in Moscow.
Born March 17, 1938 at Lyons, Neb., to Lee and Alice Shawver Besst Sr., she attended school at Lyons, then moved to Potlatch with her family in 1949. She graduated from Potlatch High School in 1957.
She married Roger W. Domini in 1963 and the couple were later divorced.
She married Kenny Carter on April 3, 1982, at Coeur d’Alene, and the couple made their home at Potlatch. Kenny operated the Farmer and Logger Supply Company in Potlatch until his retirement in 1995. Mr. Carter died in October of 2009.
She worked at the Crescent Department Store in Spokane from 1957 until 1967.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Potlatch and Princeton Community Club. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, camping and fishing.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Domini, Spokane Valley; Todd (Kim) Domini, Lacey; one step-son, Michael (Sharolon) Carter, Potlatch; a step-daughter, Renee Hamilton, Clarkston; her mother, Alice Besst, Moscow; one brother, Ardell Besst (Linda) Tacoma; one sister, Joy Gannaway (Joe) Colbert and seven grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Grace Lutheran Church at Potlatch or to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, c/o the Latah Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 264, Potlatch, 83855.
