County, locals give a touch of holidays to jail inmates

Even though most were serving time for transgressions, the 32 inmates in Whitman County’s bastille were still able to enjoy a modified holiday celebration.

“We try to do what we can to give them a little something at Christmas time,” said Jail Capt. Bob Ingalls.

Inmates received stockings filled with necessities like shampoo, deodorant, socks and Christmas candies and cookies. Ingalls was also able to secure a selection of steaks from the jail’s food supplier for Christmas dinner.
