The American Welding Society has honored Darryl Main, Stanwood High ag instructor and FFA advisor. Main, who attended high school in Palouse where he graduated in 1984, was awarded the 2009 Howard Adkins Memorial Instructor Membership award.
Main is the son of Joyce Main and the late Kenny Main of Palouse.
The award provides a two-year membership in the American Welding Society and free registration to attend the annual American Welding Society Show and technical sessions.
Main has 21 years of experience at Stanwood and has been credited with advancing the welding program to prepare students for the job market by advancing their skills to industry standards.
Currently, many of his Stanwood students receive up to 30 college course credits in welding at Everett Community College.
Main holds a bachelor of science degree in ag education with a minor in ag mechanics. He also has a master’s degree and a career and technical education administrator’s endorsement.
