• It was British author Douglas Adams, best known for writing the science-fiction comedy series “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” who made the following sage observation: “Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.”
