Robertson, Mellor each get 2 slots on state AP team

Colfax lineman Sam Mellor and Colton back Sam Robertson each landed two slots on the state AP football selections announced last week. Mellor was named to both the offensive and defensive lines in the state 2B division, and Robertson was named running back and defensive back in the state 1B division. Both are seniors.

Will Hatley of Colfax, also a senior, was named to the 2B all-purpose slot. Hatley was a kick return specialist, receiver and defensive back for the Bulldogs.

Alex Teade, a junior, was named am all-state linebacker.

Ryan Conrad, also a senior, received honorable mention for the defensive line. Two juniors, Kellen Morgan and Tyler McNannay, were named honorable mention for defensive back and kicker r respectively.

Kyle Grosshans, Adna senior who faced the Colfax defense in the state 2B title game, was named player of the year and quarterback for the division.

Will Hoppes, Tri Cities Prep senior, was named top player for the 1B division and all-state quarterback. Other members of the championship Jaguar team making the all-state list were Troy Redman, wide receiver and defensive back; Antonios Ledsma, defensive line; and Jay Orth, linebacker.

Kevin Ratuiste of the Jags received honorable mention and a running back, and Orth honorable mention for the offensive line.
