FSA names new state committee

Five farmers from across Washington were sworn in last week as members of the Farm Service Agency’s State Committee.

The state committee oversees the agency’s conservation programs, hears appeals of farmers on agency actions and acts as a conduit between farmers and the agency.

Members of the state committee are appointed by the presidential administration.

Appointed to the committee were Lennie Davis, chair, Coulee City, a partner in Tom Davis Farms; Larry DeHaan, a dairyman from Lynden; Steve Hair, a wheat grower from Walla Walla; Don Olmstead, Jr., an orchardist from Grandview; and Jesus Limon, an apple grower from East Wenatchee.
